Korean Americans and Domestic Violence During COVID-19
It's been difficult for me to see news stories that talk about the spike in Domestic Violence (DV) incidents during the Coronavirus Pandemic. As a Korean American, I was especially worried about fellow survivors who may be heavily impacted by COVID-19.
So I created this video in collaboration with Korean American Family Services (KFAM) to help shed light on this situation:
KFAM's Executive Director and I used to train people together throughout California when I worked for a nonprofit that also helped DV survivors. We were part of a program that helped educate those who assisted victims of crime to become more culturally aware and responsive. These included college employees, healthcare professionals, police officers, etc.
This video gives you an insider's look into what a Korean DV survivor is experiencing during these difficult times. It also inspires you to make a difference by helping in ways big or small.
I invite you to grab a cup of tea and hang out with me via this special post.
I’m so happy to see this! :)
